Hains Point – A Gem in DC
In my quest to find a good, long, flat paved path to rollerblade on I was introduced to Hains Point, also known as Potomac Park West, a National Park in DC. I love this place! It is a solid 3.2 mile loop of flat terrain lined by Cherry Blossom trees, water and lots of eye candy. The loop starts out with views of the marina and fish market then proceeds down to Fort McNair alined with lovely estates, you then reach the ‘point’ and come upon Reagan National Airport with very nice sounds and views of jets coming in and taking off (lots of wanderlust here). You hear the water and then you see lovely Arlington followed by Georgetown in the distance. The 3.2 mile flat loop is a great for all activities, rollerblading, biking, walking, running. There are plenty of picnic benches alone the way and people grilling out, hanging out and a park for the kids to play. Hains Point has a Golf Course, mini putt putt, pool, tennis courts (plenty) and a baseball field. I really love Hains Point for its tranquility while in the city. I hope you visit an find it as lovely as I do. Cheers, S.
